“Your skin is a reflection of what goes on within and above it. It's a reflection of your health.” - SoulGanic

The skin pigment Melanin is responsible for the color of our skin, eyes and hair. When melanin production in certain areas of the skin is more than the other parts, either in form of dark spots or patches, it is called Hyperpigmentation.

External factors stimulate the pigmentation. Sunlight is the most common reason our skin tans up with melanin production to protect itself from radiation. Some areas darken more.

Internal factors include deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, stomach issues, reaction to certain chemicals or medications, hormones, freckles, skin infections & acne.

Ayurveda states imbalance of pitta and vata doshas bring out problems like rashes, infections, inflammation, redness, acne and pigmentation.

Purification and body detox, as per ayurvedic medicines and lifestyle can help to much extent.

Internal causes can be dealt by:

1. Following a healthy and sustainable lifestyle

2. Checking on medications that don't suit well

3. Meditation for mind-body balance and flushing out the mental toxins (like stress) out of the system

4. Exercise, at least a walk to pump up the blood circulation

5. Most important- drinking plenty of water

External remedies:

1. Use products which include all natural ingredients to promote sustainable skin health

2. Cleanse your face with mild herbal face wash which effectively works on problem areas

3. Use a customised Face pack once a week

4. Kumkumadi, Ubtan face oil or face serum is an effective dose for hyperpigmentation, massaging it for 5 minutes at night time helps the skin overnight for best results

5. Do Facial every 1-3 months

6. Use Sunscreen, creams or lotions with SPF to protect the pigmented area

7. Dark patches formed due to hyperpigmentation may not completely fade away but it reduces to a great extent by using Skincare products like cleansers, face oils/serums, face packs, cream or lotion

All Natural Ingredients:

Kesar, amla, orange, lemon, mulethi, papaya, giloy, chandan, rakt chandan, haldi, milk, honey, coconut oil, khadira, manjistha, carysage, carrot seed, aloe vera and many such natural ingredients soothes hyperpigmentation.

Change is not an overnight result but consistent effort showing gradual results. You have got it gradually, it will go gradually too when you work on it internally and externally.
